Overcoming Limiting Beliefs: Three Steps To Owning Your Power

overcoming limiting beliefs

Today we're digging deep into how we can start overcoming our limiting beliefs. We all have a little friend whispering to us inside our heads - sometimes she's as silent as a whisper, other times as loud as a scream. However loud or quiet she is, she's there, ready to voice her opinion at the moments she deems necessary. Maybe it's when we are about to take a step outside of our comfort zone, perhaps it's when you find yourself in the dressing room of a clothing store. Whenever your friend decides to rear her head, her words have likely been with you[...]

What Is Self-Care, Really?

Self-care is the buzz word of 2018. It has become a trendy thing to take care of yourself, which is wonderful because it is promoting health and wellness for ourselves. And that is GREAT. But people are lacking the knowledge of what self-care really is. In fact, it is so vaguely defined that a lot of people don’t really have a solid grasp of what the heck it even means. It’s just that kind of wishy-washy word tossed around here and there. Self-care is actually an important thing for our health and I hope that after reading this you might leave[...]

Get Out of a Bad Mood in 3 Easy Steps

Sometimes, bad moods are inescapable. For whatever reason, you're experiencing a day, or a week, or a month, where you're just not yourself. That's okay! I try to put out good energy, be good energy, and be someone who always has a smile easily available for whoever needs it. I think we all aspire to be that kind of person but some days, some weeks, it's hard. And that's okay. While it's important to sit with all of our emotions, even the negative, there comes a point where the more we wallow in it, the worse it becomes. And we start to take our bad[...]

The Importance of Taking Care of Your Introvert Self

I have always been an introvert. On the Myer-Briggs scale, I am considered an INFP personality type: introverted (energized by time alone rather than with others), intuitive (focuses on ideas/concepts rather than details/facts, feeling (makes decisions based on feelings/values), and perceiving (spontaneous/flexible rather than organized/planned). While I've never paid for a professional test, all of the ones I've done have come up with the same answer and nearly everything about an INFP rings true for me.As a pre-teen and teenager, I was both an intr[...]

7 Steps To Get Over Travel Burnout

We've had a conversation about post-travel depression here in the past, but what about when you're actually on the road and feeling a bit.. bleh? Have you ever had the realization that the things you used to love about traveling were only weighing you down? Have you stopped feeling inspired and excited about the places you were going and instead, don't feel much of anything? Or you're feeling constantly exhausted and couldn't really care less if you were in that beautiful destination or at home? If so, you might have been experiencing something called travel burn[...]

New Year’s Eve Rituals To Celebrate With More Meaning

New Year's Eve is one of the most powerful opportunities to re-focus and begin creating and setting meaningful intentions for the year ahead. And what better way than with a few New Year's Eve rituals? In the past, this time of year was all about attending a crazy party and setting "new year's resolutions" that usually revolved around getting skinny and falling in love. Over the last four years, I've practiced a different kind of New Year's tradition that focuses entirely on creating time for myself and going into the new year with clarity, commitment and an i[...]

4 Signs You Need To Quit Your Job And Travel ASAP

So, you've graduated college and here you are - the real world. It was exciting at first; your very own desk, a work phone, your name on a shiny gold nameplate at the front of your desk. You even had free reign to personalize your office space - you had your seashell collection from around the world in a mason jar, some inspirational quotes, perhaps some flamingos hanging from the ceiling? If you were going to be spending the majority of your life in this office, it was going to be a place you wanted to be. At the very least, it would remind you of the best momen[...]

Stop Apologizing For Laughing Too Much: 4 Ways Laughter Leads To A Better Life

There was a moment in my life when I did the unthinkable. I was sitting in the front row of my late uncle’s funeral service. Somebody was up at the podium, delivering a tear-stained speech, and I was sitting there, listening. But I was also thinking about a time I had spent with him, a hilarious moment where laughter had been contagious and we had both gotten belly aches from laughing too hard. So I did the unthinkable. One of the most horrific social taboos at a funeral: I laughed. A bubbling giggle erupted from within, and I laughed in the middle of a very s[...]

So it turns out you do start forgetting your own age once you push thirty. Despite that, thirty four has been pretty good to me so far.

It’s been a year since I moved to the comox valley - and almost as long since I posted on here!

I look back on the intentions I was calling in at the end of 2022: to live by the water, to have more female friendships, more love, simplicity, a fun + flexible routine - and I find myself exactly where I wanted to be.

At that time I was in Mexico after being laid off, life coaching and having a good time, planning out my next move and spending a lot of time thinking about moving to Vancouver or Vancouver island.

By the end of January I had a job and a week later I was on the island.

This past year has been a practice to learn how to live in and enjoy just being here before racing off to the next thing. We can be so quick to jump from one big goal to the next that we don’t take time to slow down and actually sit in it and appreciate it for a while.

So what have I been doing since I moved here?

I’ve been playing with rescue cats and kittens every weekend

I’ve been racing to the ocean with binoculars to try and see the whales when someone mentions they’re nearby

I’ve been waking up, pouring a coffee and walking in a cozy hoodie to the shore literally across the street

I’ve been checking out waterfalls, watching sunsets from my kayak, eating brunches, writing in cafes, walking through forests of old trees, taking ocean dips even in winter, making friends, trying out pottery, dancing, reading on beaches, going to shows, and generally just learning to be present and slow down long enough for me to catch up with myself.

I’m thinking that this year is going to look much the same and I’m pretty okay with that 🌊

Everyone needs alone time - not just your introvert friends!

I know not all of us LIKE spending time alone - but all of us NEED some regular alone time.

And check out all the epic perks of spending time alone. Who doesn’t want to know themselves and trust themselves more? Who doesn’t want to feel centered and grounded?

I’d argue that prioritizing time alone is one of the key contributors to living a life that feels good - without it, we lose access to this sacred, deeper connection to ourselves.

And when we lose that connection, we lose our way.

My hope is that this can be a space where you can learn how to and be inspired to spend more quality time with you, yourself and you.

Because after all, you shouldn’t be enjoying yourself ONLY when you’re with other people. Enjoying the time you spend alone means MORE happiness in life, MORE contentedness, MORE peace.

➡️If you’re someone struggling to enjoy spending time alone, scroll on down to my post from March 13th to find 14 ways to spend quality time with yourself.

➡️If you know your relationship with yourself has taken a hit and you want to work with a life coach to get it back and build a relationship with yourself that’s better than ever before, you’re in the right place. Send me a dm at @michellebelair_ to find out more!
