The Bliss Movement

The Bliss Movement

Vietnam

Kayaking Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

The last time I kayaked I was on vacation in Ontario to visit some relatives when I was about ten years old. They had this beautiful boat that we took out onto one of the lakes and that day, I kayaked for the first time. Granted, I only went around and around the boat, but I’ve had it in my mind that I love kayaking ever since.

I recently spent two days and one night on Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Sight in Vietnam. Of all the places in the world to try out kayaking again, I am so glad it was in Halong Bay. This place is undeniably one of the most visually striking places I have ever seen. The only thing that I didn’t really like about the place was the look of the water. As beautiful as Halong Bay is, the water looks extremely dirty and polluted. As I kayaked around, I saw tons of garbage in the water, from plastic to styrofoam take-out boxes. I even saw a dead fish floating on the surface! Apart from that, the kayaking was really great. With the sun beating down on us, we spent a good hour kayaking around the floating village, and around the enormous limestone formations.

I did the same kayak trip! However, I think the weather was much better when you went 🙂
